I both think that they’re much farther from an actually usable weapon than is thought in general, and hope so.
In addition, with the number of very loosely-secured ex-Soviet nukes floating around there, I think the emphasis on stopping countries from developing them is relatively moot.
Nuclear tech really isn’t that complex anymore. Canada, Germany, Japan, several former soviet states could most likely run a crash nuclear weapons program and develop a bomb “overnight”. North Korea is a shit hole. If they can do it, anyone can. Its now becoming a matter of showing countries why they shouldn’t be nuclear armed. One reason why I think handling Iran properly is so vital.
