To people like Savage they were just cannon fodder whose only advantage was numbers. If you mentioned the T-34 to him he’d look at you blankly. If you then explained what that Soviet tank was and its importance to Allied victory, he’d at best mumble something about Lend-Lease before calling you an ‘Obamunist’.

At any given time, at least 2/3rds of Hitler’s forces were tied up on the Eastern Front. Deduct the other occupation forces in Norway, Greece and the Balkans, and the allies were facing at most one quarter of the German Armed Forces in Western Europe.
