Trending now on my FB timeline are a couple of different riffs saying: “in a democracy, the majority rules; if the majority wants to take your bike (shows kids stealing a bike), they can take your bike. In a Republic your bike is your property and you do not owe it to anyone. It cannot be taken against your will, by law. America is a constitutional republic.”

So many likes and comments saying “we are a republic, not a democracy!”
