Toshiba is fine for your laptop. They have actually good customer service, and are reasonably priced for solid support. They specialize in ones without very good graphics cards, so they should be ideal for you.

Velocity Micro I know has a reputation for excellent customer service, but they get that reputation from fixing lots of build problems in their machines. They’ve had very fast growth, and so they have the problem of any garage-type workshop that grew fast.

I personally know a Velocity Micro machine that arrived without the front panel hooked up— the audio jack and USBs in front— and that is a pretty lazy mistake.

They were pretty good a few years ago, when they were much smaller, but they don’t have the same earnest reputation that Puget does. If it’s a custom company, I go with Puget over anyone. They’re obsessive weirdos.
