That’s why relativism goes straight down the tubes. If you say “I disagree,” you introduce a paradox. Agreeing with “I disagree” is an admission that relativism is wrong. Disagreeing with that statement means you have to abandon relativism to defend it. Whoops.

No, but you can’t endorse the principle “there are no general truths” without creating a general truth — which has to apply to itself. Therefore relativism is logically inconsistent, and a very rare example of a principle which refutes itself.

My question was about whether people are saying that the Voltaire quote isn’t true or doesn’t apply.
