That’s the thing. People always want to place the blame on one entity. A common one is to blame the unions. However, many companies were highly profitable and productive during the height of union membership in this country. It fails to take into account poor business decisions made by management. One example was the refusal to modernize manufacturing facilities and this was especially true with the steel industry.

I find it hard to understand how one can say that on the one hand union salaries are too high and then watch those same companies move their manufacturing to a 3rd world country were they pay their employees less than what American companies were paying theirs in the early 20th century.
