Can someone tell me what the problem is with making sure a person who wants a gun is properly trained and licensed? You have to have at least rudimentary skills to get a driver’s license,why is it such a big issue to have to meet some basic requirements for gun ownership?

No problem there and even the NRA will likely agree with the principle (they still pretend to mainly a sporting organization), but I don’t see what it has to do with this kind of occurrence. A maniac can pass gun training.
