I honestly remember reading it originating from someone in the Tea Party, else i’d take more exception to the term. Perhaps someone else here remembers enough to provide a link?

It was originally said at TPs. Some people actually had signs that said “Teabag Liberals Before they Teabag Us!”. Once the meaning of the word “teabagging” got around, those signs disappeared but the damage was done.
