Another thing is that before the sexual revolution and it’s counter part woman’s rights, socially there wasn’t a whole lot of choice for what women actually did. You got married and had kids. Women that didn’t do that, or do it right away were weird. My Grandma didn’t get married until age 25 and as I found out when I got older she was really, really pressured. She wouldn’t settle until she found the right man. She also went to school and got into one of few types of jobs that were acceptable for women. I do remember her saying that she had friends that got married younger and many ended up unhappy. They married because they were supposed to marry. Had kids and that was it. Just stuck.

Absolutely! 25 was practically an old maid!

My grandmother went to college which was a big deal. She was born 1890 in Hungary. I don’t know when she came here, but went to college in NY (I have to ask my mom now hehe).
