Hey, I saw a couple of adorable Chabad-Lubavitcher kids pedaling around with a rickshaw style sukkah. Forgive my ignorance, but is it really okay to use a sukkah that’s just wheeled up in front of your building? I thought part of the whole deal was building it yourself, or with family/friends. Or is that just the tradition that I remember, rather than an actual part of the religious ritutal?

Portable sukkah is great, that gives people who wouldn’t otherwise be near a sukkah, the opportunity to make a blessing in the sukkah. Sukkahmobile and sukkahbike were created for people who live in apartment buildings that don’t have balconies, or who don’t live near a communal sukkah. Everybody wins.

I miscalculated this year and bought a HUGE sukkah. My sons put it up and they are going home before the holiday is over, so I will have to pay some neighborhood kids to take it down. Last year Zedushka built the sukkah on our back deck and then he left it up all year. ALL FREAKING YEAR. That’s like the equivalent of leaving your Christmas lights up all year.
