I had that posted here on “Pages” on Sunday…what struck me was that the reporter/photographer were scrambling for negative things to say.

One fact that stood out was that they had do drink Coca-Cola “smuggled in” from Egypt! Here in CA, we do that, too, but from Mexico. Only Mexican Coca-Cola gives you glass bottles and real sugar. I didn’t realize that having to drink smuggled Coca-Cola made me oppressed.

A catering truck here in Lubbock has several kinds of glass-bottle Mexican soda, including the Nehi grape of revered childhood memory. I flag him down and buy one once in a while if I happen to be outside when he passes by. It’s a minor but completely authentic nostalgia trip.
