Under the Uniform Code of Military Justice, every service member has the duty to question every order from superiors as to the legality of the order, this duty starts at the rank of Private or Seaman. As Barack Obama is the Commander in Chief of the US military, all military people have the duty and the right to question the legality of any orders issued by him. I myself have not exercised that duty but a growing number of US Military members have. Are they Nirthers or kooks, or worse because they are following Federal Law?
I questioned and disobeyed one order.
That cost me the rate of E-5, which I regained in 6 months.
It cost the officer issuing the order further promotions.
Simple judgement by our squadron C.O., and I think it was the right one.
