The death penalty is the response to the problem, not the cause of the problem.

So, according to you, without the death penalty in place these states would be seeing much higher murder rates— because it is a deterrent?

Can you back that up at all?

The whole idea of punishment, of any sort, is that the prospect of the punishment is a deterrent. And it is.

If I did a shot every time you made an unbacked assertion in the cause of an argument, I’d die of liver failure.

What is the aversion you have to actually supporting your argument?
