I’ve known a few. Usually, it is tied to being “devoutly” religious. Or a belief that “it’s never happened to me; so if it happened to you, it’s because you made poor choices.”

For many people - regardless of age - paying attention to politics just takes too much energy. They want to go for dinner and drinks, play with kids after dance class or soccer practice, unwind after a long day of work. The last thing they want to think about is politics, so it becomes a default “I’m on Team Red and Team Blue is bad.” They buy into something their parents told them and never question it.
