No kidding, he’s from Nicaragua and has an accent. I was talking about this with my future father in law who’s an immigrant from panama and he had an interesting take. On the one hand people come here because there is nothing for them in their home country (talking about mexico/latin america/south america) on the other hand you have a lot who come here that are just plain illiterate, don’t speak english, and in general never integrate into society here.

He’s very much of the opinion that they should be sent back and have to come here legally just as he did. But he doesn’t get that if he went to arizona he would probably be one they checked for papers (god help the cop who did that, he gets really annoyed by any “Are you a citizen” questions considering he’s been here 30+ years).

i’ll bet my dog’s life that a 300-member panel of recent legal immigrants would create an immigration policy that would be more widely accepted than anything our Congress will ever create.

(i expect to win, but just in case i lose, i’ll get revenge for that little gift the Chihuahua left in the living room this morning. bitch.)
