I went to Egypt in January of 1980. It was cold and foggy the day my mob and I went to the Pyramids. The camels were blowing a lot of steam but there was no ice. Some of my colleagues had apparently slept through part of the briefing and did not bother to bring warm clothes. They didn’t realize Cairo would be cold in January. I asked them if they ever looked at a map. If they had they would have seen that Cairo is about as far north as Lubbock. The temperature in that part of the world will get down around freezing, or a little below at times, but snow and ice are practically unheard of.

Camels, btw, are really mean, ill-tempered bastards, practically 4-legged baboons. Of course, I actually rather like baboons. According to my treasured 1963 World Book Encyclopedia, they are “hard fighters,” and “fierce, quarrelsome animals,” but “take tender care of their young.”
