Not quite. It’s like that old “what weighs more, a pound of iron or pound of feathers” trick question. Muscle cells and fat cells weigh the same, but muscle cells are much denser. The analogy I recall is, visualize a muscle cell as a pea, and a fat cell as a cotton ball.
How about if I put it this way: ‘X’ volume of fat weighs less than ‘X’ volume of muscle. That explains the additional room in the jeans.
