But the C-130s are newer airplanes. The KC-135s are the same planes from the 1960s and 1970s. Boeing doesn’t even make 707s or their parts any more. The Air Force has to machine their own parts when repairs are required.

I think we are still making C-130s. They are great planes but they really take a beating because of the missions they are able to fly.

The KC-135 is an aging aircraft, but the Air Force has tried and failed to replace them before. I believe they’re still looking to land a contract for a new refueling tanker.
