OK— let pick y’all brains on this. I built a movie room for the family ‘bout three years ago and bought an InFocus DLP projector and made a screen with screen paint and everything. It threw a pretty good 10’ image. Worked very well until earlier this year the picture started to degrade right before the bulb blew (literally). It’s almost $300 for a new bulb. But the drawback is you can only watch in a very dark room and the family wants to watch earlier in the day.

Should I buy the bulb—and risk it blowing again (the service cost is pretty high on the thing, too) or save my pennies and get a new(er) LCD/plasma—which will be smaller than the projected image?

Thoughts are welcome.
