Denial. Having bought into the worst stereotypes about Lib’ruls, but refusing to see the racists and gun nuts for who they are.

What I find is that there’s a lot of people who only know about certain issues from a very wingnut source, and don’t want or don’t know how to investigate further.

Feminism being the most prominent case…where people seem to imagine all feminists are lock-step with Dworkin and Mary Daly, if not the SCUM Manifesto.
