I’m wondering if since many of the jihadis are either foreign born, or have foreign ties, if they tend to generate more chatter. The local threat I suspect would be more localized and possibly less likely to plan extensively online. Mind you I’m probably just talking out of my ass

If you look close at the lone wolfs they had to have been flagged by either a tip, or by frequenting an extremist site “honeypot”. A honeypot is a site decked out all wahabbi/bin ladenist or all Hezbollah/Iranian that appears real extreme to troll for those lone wolves.
