I’m not against forgiving people for having chaotic and uncomfortable personal lives, but I suspect Erickson’s ‘redemption’ is highly selective.

I’m not against that either, but Sanford’s adultery stands in my mind as a mark (heh) of bad character. I consider him to have demonstrated severe dishonesty and disloyalty by his actions, and it makes him unfit for my support for any position of authority.
