There was discussion downstairs about Cheney as Speaker. I think that the House would be reluctant to vote for someone who is not a member. There was idle speculation about Republicans nominating Trump for the position, but that was prior to the failure of the “red wave”. My feeling is that although it’s legal it’s very unlikely that someone who is not a sitting member of the House would be able to get elected to the position. It would be entertaining if Jeffries won.
