There are undoubtedly issues that are not “religious”, where conservative religion is an icing on the cake. E.g. racism and homophobia, where non-believers haven’t been any better than believers.
But with abortion, while there are anti-choice atheists, this issue so tied to the worldview notions like “personhood” that it’s very hard for me to find another general explanation other than conservative religion.
