It’s because they don’t want to spend any extra money beyond their tax dollars to educate their children privately (or via homeschooling.) It’s an additional burden to spend the time and/or money to carry out such an education and the parent(s) in question apparently prefer using a lawsuit and/or public complaining to doing so.

I personally believe that opposing science education on religious grounds is foolish, but that’s simply my opinion.
