OK, this is the weirdest plagiarism situation I have ever been in. The kid copied nine pages from the Koran (in translation) and turned it in as part of her fiction portfolio. I swear, I do not know if the appropriate charge is ‘plagiarism’ or ‘blasphemy’. I guess I’ll go with the first, since the second is not actually against school rules.
Plagiarism is probably the best way to go, as the bar for blasphemy is such a moving target (“I dont’ believe in God.” “How dare you insult me!!!”
Is he/she trying to make a point about religion, or engaging in some parent-approved Muslim bashing?
