Perhaps one of the reasons I’m looking forward to the new Godzilla film is because thematically, it harkens back to the 1954 Japanese original. The idea of the Big G as a destructive force, not the friend of weird seven-year old kids named Ken wearing bizarre shorts. Mother Nature’s revenge, wrath of God, whatever you want to call it. Things like that make for great disaster films.
