Well, if you are against something that mainly benefits a minority because of the way those minorities tend to vote, then yes, your opposition has a racist effect. I’m not sure why this is something that’s debatable.

If someone says, “I don’t like ACORN because they get out the vote for blacks who, as everyone knows, tend to vote for Democrats”, then that is definitely racist.

Of course, no one ever says that. What they say is that it’s a ‘known fact’ that the ACORN people ‘make’ the voters they sign up vote Democrat. Because it’s really statistically peculiar that so many urban black and Latino voters would register as Democrats. Hardly believable.
