That was not an option Israel was interested in. Many Europeans were pro-Palestinian and in any case the terrorists often used hijackings back then to free any of their number who were detained in Europe. Given that, plus the official opposition in Europe to capital punishment, Israel decided assassination was the way to go. For what its worth, i think they were right. The terrorists were scum who deserved to die.
But what about the innocent guy? Really, people need to temper themselves to humanity. All humanity.
