Better late than never. The AP runs a significant correction on Gov. Christie’s administrative costs compared with those of Gov. Corzine (which ran right before the hotly contested school budget votes).

Once apples to apples were compared, the differences are… minor. Christie and his lt. gov collect salaries, while Corzine didn’t take one. That difference alone makes up pretty much all the difference in salaries.

The AP hit piece had tried to claim that Christie’s adminstration was twice the size of Corzines, and that there were more people making over $100k than in Corzine. Moreover, the AP counted those positions paid for by other departments but worked in the Governor’s office as part of the Executive, while excluding the same from Corzine’s figures.

Once the comparison figures were equalized, the difference was… not so much.
