My wife, from a somewhat nicer part of the Southland, has always been amazed at how different things are region to region. We always locked everything down as tight as possible, and generally lived in fear. Those little hill towns are dangerous.

She went back to where I grew up and was absolutely scared; she said seeing it helped to explain a lot about me. She gets now why I’m not “friendly” like a lot of other Southern folk, why I’m suspicious of strangers, and why I won’t go where I’m not invited and expected/

Do you have children? Her Southern charm and your street smarts would make a good mix!
