I had never really paid attention to the colors until the all the fear mongering in 2008. That’s when it hit me.

I don’t remember anyone paying attention to the colors used on the map until 2000, and then it was used to show that Bush won more of the AREA of the US. That was followed by the county map version to show just how dominating was Bush’s winning of empty acreage.
