re: #4 S.D.

No, that is next week, when I finish going through Series 6. Keep the Flame-Thrower out.

re: #3 hartly

See, what I find obnoxious is this whole NuWho>OldWho, or the opposite occurring. Sci-Fi elements are still dominating.

And as for the emotional elements? I like them. It will keep the show from falling into the same stupid divot that many sci-fi stories and fandoms fall into. Namely the old “Sci-Fi doesn’t understand emotions” issue. Sci-Fi without emotion is neglecting an essential part of the human condition. That we are often guided by emotion, and my react illogically. A good example would be “The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit.” Why did the Human Explorers go to a planet in a orbit incredibly close to a Black Hole? “Because it was there.” The Human impulse of finding out why the odd thing is there, and how it is there.

Sci-Fi shouldn’t just be able Scientific Terms and theories. It should also be about how Humans/Sentient Beings react to bizarre and interesting circumstances. Besides all that, Doctor Who has always been Soft-Sci-Fi.

To round that off, we have Craig Ferguson, a host of the Late Late Show on CBS with this comment on Doctor Who. He is a Whovian who loves both Old and New Who. This is his quote.

It’s all about the triumph of intellect and romance over brute force and cynicism.

And I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’d rather Doctor not fall into the same hole that Star Trek and Star Wars are in.

re: #5 JeffFX

My reading of his comment is essentially “Old Who is better than New Who.” And I have seen enough of that attitude from the Final Fantasy fans to the point that my tolerance of it is zilch. So, the moment I hear that attitude, I respond.
