I think that part of this (I suspect we will differ here) is due to the “pressure relief” offered by the MSM to the left. When you have the national media in the tank for you, perhaps the reasonable are less motivated to get kooky.

This is important: If the only place you see your own views discussed is with crazy people, you will probably join them. I don’t want to cry “victim”, but I think that this has something to do with the difference in styles between the left crazy and the right crazy.
