As far as I’m concerned, we should just keep things simple. We don’t need to completely trash the venerable F-15 frame; just find one or two ways to improve it, re-engine it, upgrade the electronics, and get her in the air.

Yep. And on the F-35 we should have just bought more Super Hornets. Upgrade the Harriers and so on. Too late now though. Frankly we’re too far ahead on the F-35 to cancel. Now that would be a big mistake. We have plenty of F-22s in service for air defense. We’ll likely never use them in air to air combat. If we’re lucky.
