Scholarship doesn’t become more convincing just because it serves some noble social goals. It was basically only John Boswell who tried to reinterpret Paul’s clear anti-homosexual quotes. His attempts have not been found persuasive by most other scholars. It may be sad in a way, because that means that Paul’s moldy, 2000 y.o. teachings will still poison the well long after we’re gone, but, well, facts are facts.
