Racism is a learned behaviour. Children are not naturally racist, they come by it from their parents. Thus, if baby boomer parents are racists, the odds go way up their millennial children are too.

Of course not all baby boomers are racists. Even growing up in the South (Virginia and Maryland) during Jim Crow, I did not turn into a racist because my parents were not, and they countered the local narrative.

And even if millennial children are racist if they learn if from their boomer parents, it can be mitigated via a college education because they’ll be more likely to interact with a diverse community and gain the intellectual tools needed to examine their biases and address them. This will of course only work if the millennial children are naturally curious and open-minded, but hopefully the numbers of minorities and “enlightened” whites (for lack of a better term) will outnumber the racist whites.
