Well, I’m not going scoff that “These friggin things don’t float” next time they show me how to put on the life jacket that’s under my seat.

Anything filled with air floats. It all depends on the speed it hits the water.

This pilot intentionally wrestled this plane into the Hudson, most likely. Anything like this on the ground would have been a huge disaster.
