Her writing speaks to me and she has a unique perspective, both from researching them and from establishing one of the earlier schools teaching folks involved in recreation how to assess avalanche risk, etc. Some of the stories she relates are fascinating, if depressing as shit.

She also addresses a lot about human risk assessment (it sucks) and other avalanche hazards (there’s neighborhoods in Alaska built in the path of avalanche chutes) and talks about triggering avalanches for filming purposes or safety purposes. Just a really neat, wide range of experiences and a lot of educational stuff in there too.
