I’m not as worried about this as I would have been 10 years ago. If domestic manufacturers go along with this, they’ll just be consigning themselves and their cars to the scrap heap.
I agree that many consumers are still going to want fuel-efficient cars, but my concern is that the manufacturer’s will try to push high-profit SUVs if they don’t have to keep their overall mileage ratings below a certain point.
