You jumped in and called her a liar without asking for clarification first. And I’m also of the opinion that throwing out insults like you is not something to be done in an argument. Iceweasel attacked Ayn Rand, and you replied by attacking iceweasel.

This all could have been avoided if we could give the benefit of the doubt to our ideological opponents, that they’re acting in good faith and may be mistaken, but are not deliberately lying. Had Dan opened up by saying “That is a lie fostered by misunderstandings of ayn rand’s real work’ or some such, rather than just indicting me as a liar (rather than one who is mistaken, and unknowingly propagating a lie), I’d have had no problem asking him how I was mistaken and where. Could have been a good discussion, too.
