Yep. Words ≠ language. You can teach a chimp to sign that it wants an apple. Koko will never tell you “hey, so i figured out that if you deflate this rubber ball a little bit, you can squeeze it into the food chute.”

Orcas might be doing that. I just don’t think we have any idea.

And it’s probably a lot harder to study the orcas as well for obvious reasons. Dolphins I know are said to be real smart too. I could never extensively study it but animals are fascinating.
