I’ve seen some dumb fucks try to claim that the Northern factories were just as bad if not worse than slavery. Huh sounds to me that someone is arguing for union rights and the right to organize. But as I said, Irish-Americans were free. My great grandparents were not slaves of the north. They were able to move freely.

Not to mention the “slaves” in the North were still citizens, even if they might be at the mercy of their employers. The slaves of the South were treated, legally as well as culturally, as little different from farm animals.
