Paul Ryan & Gang don’t believe any of this. They know people will suffer but they don’t give a shit, their allegiance is to their corporate overlords.

This is the problem I have. I have yet to meet a Libertarian or Randian who can be honest about what the data show about economics. I’d LOVE, just once, to meet one who can admit that, yes, unregulated capitalism is not really self-policing, and generally leads to exploitation by the rich of everyone else, and that yes, generally most people will be worse off under it, but that they feel economic freedom is more important than a system that works for all.

I could at least see that as a rational position. Instead, you get these unicorn fart fairy tales about the Invisible Hand of the Free Market, that would make everyone rich beyond their wildest dreams, if only we stopped preventing companies from screwing workers, consumers, and the environment.
