My father lost his small business in the 1990s because his early-onset arteriosclerosis was considered pre-existing. Parents could not afford a quadruple bypass for him. Over $100k. 8 people lost their jobs when he had to shut down.

My bipolar would be considered pre-existing. My medications (except for one) are relatively cheap, but God forbid I go round the twist and have to be hospitalized.

And what about genetic predispositions? Both my sons are at high risk for bipolar, as they already have ADHD and their mom’s family is rife with it. Would a transition to bipolar be considered pre-existing?

The whole thing is madness.

This is one of those days when I need to walk away from the internet and go hang out with my cats.
