I don’t like the term “New Cold War”. Despite superficial similarities, Russia’s goals are not the same as the USSR. They do wish to reunite the old Russian Empire, but not to spread a worldwide political/economic ideology.

As for meddling in foreign elections, that is something that many nations do, including the USA. The disturbing part is how Americans are accepting or even actively soliciting such interference - and brazenly getting away with it.

Cold War doesn’t only apply to the Soviet Union. What makes this like the CW is we’re not dealing with conventional warfare. We’re fighting for democracy and pluralism while Putin is interested in the opposite. His goals are a new world where Russia dominates the conversation directly or through proxies.
