The US Senate is archaic, an ancient reminder of the time when politics was about powerful men looking for ways to retain their power.

Abolish it.

I’m on record as saying that we still need some ability to check the majority’s power, to ensure that the Constitutional rights of the minority are protected and that a straight majority can never run roughshod over the entire country (see: Exactly what would happen if the Republicans took over). However, the mechanisms the Senate wields to accomplish this purpose are far too powerful to accomplish such a delicate task - like using a sledgehammer to swat a fly.
