Cambodia election: Polls open in vote with no credible opposition (BBC, one hour ago)

TL;DR: Hun Sen has been in power for thirty-eight years. He has no credible opposition.

After the United Nations helped Cambodia transition to a multi-party democracy after Vietnam broke the rule of the Khmer Rouge through an invasion, Mr. Sen emerged in the election as the victor.

In all six elections, he’s rounded up opposition party leaders, banned political parties, and seized media outlets.

He’s hinted after he wins that his son (leader of the Royal Cambodian Army), who is running for the National Assembly, will be appointed Prime Minister in a couple weeks.

Mr. Sen’s party controls all 138 seats of the National Assembly.
