Oh, there are potential ways to discredit his statements. Consider that much of what we know is from what he is supposed to have said to investigators about Martin following and attacking him. Can you prove/disprove those statements directly? Not unless there’s other evidence. But if you can convince the judge that the bail lies are relevant facts, the prosecutor could introduce that if Zimmerman lied about the bail stuff, then we should be able to discredit his other statements. Etc.

That was the dilemma that my mind couldn’t let go of. His word is the only (seeming) word on what really happened and it seems that he can’t be taken at his word.

Judge: Give up your passport.
Zimm: Here it is.
While knowing full well that the one he gave was expired (or about to be) and the valid one was still in his possession.
