This actually plays nicely into Mitt’s “Let Detroit go bankrupt” idiocy. The British government had a lot of nationalizations; one of them was of Rolls Royce. The government took it over, ran it successfully, and privatized it under Thatcher. It kept an amazingly valuable brand alive and kept Britain important in the aerospace industry. It was a very good choice to nationalize it and keep going.
